Western Ballet Youth Graded Program

Designed to take young dancers from their first dance experiences to performances of a pre-professional caliber. Students progress according to individual development; advancement is based on an evaluation by the Artistic Director and other instructors. It is not unusual for a student to remain in a level for more than one year.

Pre-ballet and Ballet A and B aim to stimulate and maintain an interest in the art of classical ballet and make it possible for students to study in a professional environment. Placement in these levels is determined by age and ability; an audition is not required. All classes are taught by experienced, professional faculty.

Levels 1 to 6 offer an intensive training program designed to channel talents of the serious student along a professional route from the studio to the stage. A class placement is required for entrance into these levels.

When students progress to the upper levels, there is a concomitant increase in commitment from both the student and faculty. Performing opportunities increase. Students receive the attention and training required of the pre-professional level. The upper levels of the program integrate classical Ballet, Modern dance, Pilates, music and performing opportunities contributing to the development of a well-rounded artist.
