Open Classes
Western Ballet offers open classes for teenagers and adults in three levels. This is an open level program and requires no auditions or placement. The program allows students to experience and enjoy the art of ballet, encouraging the development of poise and strength while maintaining physical safety.
Beginning -
This level is suited for the dancer who has had very little or no prior training. It is designed to develop body awareness, sense of balance and movement. Rhythm, musicality and alignment are introduced. Ballet terminology is introduced. Simpler combinations are offered allowing integration of exercises into dance movement.
Intermediate -
Emphasis is placed on building strength and encouraging proper alignment. Exercises and stretches to improve flexibility are introduced. Barre and center work continue at a more advanced level.
Advanced -
Classes provide more challenging barre, center work and combinations, yet continue to develop strong technique.
Pointe -
Pointe training requires sufficient technical training, strength, placement and alignment. There are two adult pointe classes, both classes require approval of the instructor for enrollment in the class.
Beginning Pointe -
Introduction to pointe work, basic technique.
Intermediate Pointe -
Ongoing basic pointe work, some center work.
